Re: New Web Site

G'Day,

Only just got back into the PC land. Your new web site is great thing. After we have all shuffled off this mortal coil your memories will still be there.
Keep up the great work.

Re: HDML 1387

Great pictures of a truly wonderful event. To restore to the high standard you have is a rare sight these days.
I hope you have good security at the wharf, mindless vandalism is a common thing today.

Fairmile B

Would any of the members have a photograph of the inside of a Fairmile B. Anything from Stem To Stern. I would like to add some inside shots of what these boats were like on the inside on my web site. There have been lots of photographs of ML from the outside but I would like to show the future gene...

Re: Research Coastal Forces

Thanks Admin, I've spent the last year studiously deleting the %20 and putting in a space whenever I sent a link thinking it would not work with that in it. :? The rebuilt site will not suffer the same problems   I learn a little more each day then each night my memory gets reformatted...

Re: Abbreviations

10 out of 10 pioneer.

He was on a training ML at HMS Seahawk.

But when he got his award he must have been on a destroyer or similar as Seedies Coastal Command book does not list him.

Many thanks for all your help JB

Re: Abbreviations

Pioneer, Once again many thanks. I am re building my web site and in re doing things i keep finding small bits I do not understand, I spent a couple of years with the Green Jackets then Shaw Saville for a year so no RN experience. In some notes on the crew of ML 115 is a passage " The S.D. Able...

Could any one let me know the rank S.D. This was a person serving on a motor launch.

Also is there a list of RN rank abbreviations anywhere?

Re: HMML to Q boat

Once again Pioneer many thanks.

Not being RN has many set backs when trying to work out what the whole set-up was. But I'll keep plodding away, its that much easier when you have kind people helping you out, thank you.

Re: HMML to Q boat

Pioneer, Many thanks for the link, but I am still confused? For example in the book Allied Coastal Forces Of WW11 there are illustrations of British Fairmile Bs that are numbered ML *** and on the next page Fairmile Bs numbered Q ***. Were they launched as ML then changed to Q or were they launched ...

HMML to Q boat

Some of the ML had their designation changes from ML *** to Q ***. Could any one enlighten me as to why this happened as I thought all Q designations were for the Canadian MLs.

Many thanks JB :?

It Brings A Tear To Your Eye

I came across some photos that made me so sad.

http://setsail.com/historic-precedent/

I cant afford to buy it and now my body would not tolerate my working on such a large project, but I can still dream.

My Father Andrew Fraser ( Andy) JX642099

Admin, The photos on my site were left to me by my father. I never got the chance to sit down with him and go through them. From my understanding the photos you refer to are both the engine room of a Fairmile B motor launch, one with one without either crew or dockyard personnel. :? Thanks for the l...
