Re: P8044, a Vosper Type II MTB

If you are on Facebook, go here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/562609010767534 and search for Alan Wolfe. As for color, the boat alongside is one of the BPB target boats, which was red. Since the control boat would normally be a color that would stand out, she may have been yellow. If you are on F...

Re: MGB46

Thank you, Darius, for the references. I have two somewhat indistinct photos of S 201 and two of VANTUL. Can you suggest any other sources (hopefully with photos) of these boats?

MGB46

TM51 was a 70' BPB boat built for the RNN. Two sisters were under construction in Holland under license, but were captured by the Germans. They, in turn, completed the two and placed them in service as S201 and S202. TM51 escaped to Britain, eventually becoming MGB46. The turret weapons are single 2...

I'm looking for a manual on the Rolls Royce MERLINs that were marinized for the British Power Boat Company MGBs.

Re: Fairmile 'C' Gunboats

The Cs have an unusual panel bow and stern. They appear to be either white or yellow and the stern panels are in slightly different positions on each boat.

Re: 70' British Powerboat Company Co (former MASB)

This is the cockpit of MGB16, one of the 70' boats, from the collection of Peter Scott. His grandfather was part of her crew. The MASBs pictured in this thread are 63' boats and had a different cockpit area. https://www.facebook.com/groups/7179359 ... SEARCH_BOX

Allied Coastal Forces of WWII, vol. 3

Yup, still working on it, but am now closing in on the end. Still would like to find any official plans of the 70' Higgins MGBs, 78' Higgins as MTB and MGB, and any British Power Boat Company types.

MGB 69-73, 100-106

The recent passing of my friend and co-author John Lambert has prompted me to finish up my part of what would have been volume 3 of Allied Coastal Forces - the Higgins PTs. Right now, I'm working on the drawings for the 70' boats. Initially developed for the Finnish Navy, that country's alignment wi...

PT Boat Museum DVDs

The PT Boat Museum has recently released two new DVDs that should be of interest to USN coastal forces enthusiasts. Both DVDs were created from decades-old microfilm. One contains the contents of five 35mm rolls of 80' ELCO PT drawings and one roll of 77' ELCO PT drawings. The other contains the con...

70' Higgins MGBs

I'm working on a book on the Higgins PTs and, as part of the material, will be addressing the 70' boats acquired by the RN as MGB 69-73 and 100-106, as well as the 81' MTB 270 and MGB 68. I'm looking for photos primarily.
