Re: 2" Rocket flare launcher

There are drawings of the rocket in John Lambert and Al Ross' Allied Coastal Forces of World War II Volume I. The rockets carried a parachute in their forward section. Vosper boats either carried the ready rounds on racks on both sides of the wheelhouse (often with canvas covers), or in boxes in the...

British Power Boat Co 71ft 6ins hulls used as Target boats

I wonder whether anyone can help with the numbering of some of these boats, and also what colour they may have been. I would like to draw a couple of profiles of these boats, to go in a book to be published later this year. The best source (so far) of pictures has been navyphotos.co.uk, and the comp...

British Power Boat Company 71ft 6ins MTBs / depth charges

I wondered whether anyone had any pictures of BPBCo 71ft 6ins boats carrying (or equipped to carry) more than two depth charges? I'm particularly interested in MTB 416 (lower photo), which appeared to have rails running along much of the deck and an unknown boat (also attached) with racks and rails ...

Re: MTB 219

I've just been into Bridgwater to see it. Looks mighty impressive, floating in the small docks at the end of the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal.

British Power Boat Company 63ft MGBs and MA/SBs

I am currently working on profile drawings for a forthcoming book on MGBs, MA/SBs and MTBs produced by BPBCo. This will be a sister volume to that on Vosper designs which was published late last year. There seem to be relatively few photos of the 63ft boats in previously published books and online, ...

Re: 2nd MGB Flotilla

Guthlac: Those photos really are superb. I used to live in Weymouth, and the coastline visible behind the three-quarter view of 16 looks to me like the coast between Bowleaze Cove and Ringstead. Are there any more? I ask because I am currently drawing colour profiles of British Power Boat Company MG...

Re: Vosper MTB 74

Thanks for posting the image.

That's the photo I was referring to above! If only spray didn't obscure the hull sides aft of the silencer 'boxes'...

Re: Vosper MTB 74

Hi. Thanks for the link.

I'd be much happier with a photo, though!

As a modeller myself, I know what a demanding bunch we are. If I can't find a photo, I may stick to a view of the port side, and fudge it by saying 'starboard side believed to be similar'.

Vosper MTB 74

Do any photos exist of the starboard side of 74, showing the full extent of the camouflage scheme? The only photo I can find shows the boat at speed, travelling from left to right (so to speak), with spray obscuring the rear third of the hull. Although the scheme is similar on both sides of the boat...

J.S White MTBs 41 to 48

I am currently writing and illustrating a book on MTBs, which will be published later this year. It will cover Vosper boats to 538, and the flush-deck White boats. I would appreciate any information on what engines were fitted to MTBs 41 to 48, and indeed to MTBs 252 to 257. What information I have ...
