Re: MTB 309

Hi Ron, My Grandfather I believe also served in this same area. I don't know what Flotilla he was on but I know he ended up in Malta during WW2. However, his name was also Ron Matthews. He passed many years ago but thought it maybe a strange coincidence if you knew him or of him. If there is any de...

Re: MTB's 268, 309, 266, 265

Brian, Wow! Thank you so much. I'm not sure what MTB my Granddad was on but I think he was with the 10th Flotilla as he went to Mosquito in Dec 1941 just before the 10th went there in Jan 1942. He could have been 15th but looked like they didn't get to Alex until later. Don't know if you've seen my ...

Re: SPO Charlie Vincent

Looking online I think the Italian sub was the 'Perla'. Says captured by the Corvette Hyacinth on the 9th July 42. This part explains the MTB involvement "MTB 261 who had with HMS Gloxinia and MTB 265 had come out from Beirut had been sent back to harbour to bring out two officers with submarin...

Re: SPO Charlie Vincent

Thanks, that very helpful. On the numbers next to the Attack and Hornet someone on 'worldnavyships' suggested the following "The numbers next to Attack and Hornet are, I suspect, to do with his pay list. Each man was, on reporting for duty assigned to a list. The list depended on his rank/speci...

MTB's 268, 309, 266, 265

Hi, First post and I'm looking for information concerning my Grandad who sadly died back in 1980 so I don't have any first hand info myself as I was 3. Ideally I want to put a short book together for my Dad on my Grandad's Navy service so as much information I am able to glean about anything and eve...
