Re: 12th MTB Flotilla (MTBs 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 345)

With huge thanks and credit to the forum members who helped my research, I'm delighted to report publication of my book about Commander Derek 'Jake' Wright DSC** RNVR. Titled 'Torpedoes, Tea, and Medals' (ISBN 978-1636241401) it has been printed and distributed by Casemate UK, and is available from ...

Re: 12th MTB Flotilla (MTBs 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 345)

I've now managed to confirm the Command Teams in each boat within the 1941/42 12th MTB Flotilla, as per the Navy List for Feb 1942 (in fact three weeks after most of the boats were decommissioned). As per my previous posts, any information on the activities of the 12th MTB Flotilla or of any of the ...

Re: 12th MTB Flotilla (MTBs 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 345)

Dear Admin (And everyone else). It looks as if there is indeed very little information out there regarding the 12th MTB Flotilla, although I agree with the connection to the St Nazaire raid together with the potential for attacks on Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, and Prinz Eugen. By way of further aid to a...

12th MTB Flotilla (MTBs 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 345)

I am researching the activities of the 12th MTB Flotilla between October 1941 and January 1942, and would value as much information as anyone has about what the 12th MTB Flotilla was stood up to achieve, why they trained at Dartmouth, what they were training for (was it a specific operation, or just...

Re: MTB 77

Hi Michael Thanks for posting about your Father. The Commanding Officer you mention was Temp Lt John Brian Sturgeon DSC RNVR (known as Brian). He was CO of MTB 77 when on the night of 15/16 March 1943 it attacked some merchantman of Marittimo near Sicily; after successfully sinking one merchant ship...

Re: MTB 77

Steve

This is brilliant - thank you. I'll getting touch with the NMM and see if I can get the original. Or, I feel a visit to London may be forthcoming.

Your time and effort in finding this for me is very much appreciated.

Re: MTB 77

Dear Sir/Madam (Admin) Thank you for taking the time to look through these investigative areas for me. I've already spent many hours in the Naval Historical Branch looking through their archives as well as looking through the many books on MTBs, but have not yet been through the collection at IWM .....

MTB 77

Dear Fellows I am currently researching a biography of Lieutenant Richard Guy Ormonde Hudson DSC RNVR, who served in MTBs 62, 65 and 77. He went on to pioneer the Surface Force Direction Officer tactics used to protect the flanks of D-Day, working alongside a number of other distinguished MTB and MG...
