Re: New Vosper MTB model

Hello Everyone from Oz, Following on from the Vosper last year I wish to pass on the following on behalf of Coastal Craft models in the UK --- Following on from their Vosper MTB in 1/72nd scale, Coastal Craft plan to release the British Power Boat Co. 71’6” MGB at the Telford Model Show next month. ...

Re: ML 351 and 357

Hi Michael, Have sent you a 'pm' as I have a friend here in Oz who's late father was on 357 from Nov 43 to Oct 45, plus I know of a chap in Sydney who also served on her for a time. You might also like to know that '357' is still afloat in the UK. Cheers, Roger. "Roger's Little Ships". Mod...

Re: ML 220 1st ML Flotilla

Thanks 'cdsc123', Nice photo of '220', thankyou for sharing it with us. According to 'Allied Coastal Forces vol I' by John Lambert & Al Ross the only info about her post war is "ML2220; RNVR 12.47; sold 20.8.56" so your little snippet of info could add to that and who knows what other ...

Re: ML 220 1st ML Flotilla

Hello 'Bradl3y', I have some info on ML 220 while Ray Worledge was her CO, taken from "Fairmile Ships of the Royal Australian Navy, vol I". It seems to be reasonably comprehensive covering six pages which I could either scan and e-mail or photocopy and post, whichever you prefer. If intere...

Re: Roger's Little Ships

Hello Everyone, OK, at this stage this is the order of preference so I will most likely be releasing one resin model (kit) at a time in the following order (perhaps): 1. Vosper MTB. The more common wider (19’3”, 1941-2ish) version as opposed to the much narrower (14’9”, 1939-40ish) type. As far as I...

Re: Commercially available kits

Hello 'Jaime', At this stage I think it unlikely a 1/72nd plastic Fairmile B ML would ever be produced, I say unlikely but I guess we should say it could be possible if enough people pestered the model companies. You may have seen my posts re the card models I've been 'tinkering' with mainly at this...

Re: New Vosper MTB model

Hello again, Just realised I haven’t actually stated my opinion which is – I’m very impressed indeed, I love it. It’s a great looking kit, plenty of scope for extra detailing and with some crew figures will look very impressive. I’m positive once other purchasers start building this fine model, buil...

Re: New Vosper MTB model

1/72 Vosper MTB kit – an ‘inbox look’. I wish to give you my opinion on the first kit to be released by Coastal Craft Models of the UK. It is the Vosper MTB, is largely a resin kit and is to 1/72nd scale. This is mainly a first glance into the kit soon after receiving it from the UK. As far as I kno...

New Vosper MTB model

Hello to all, While some of us keen modellers await the release of Italeri's Vosper MTB in 1/35th scale, a 1/72nd version was recently released at the Telford (UK) show. The kit was released by 'Coastal Craft' models, consists of resin and brass etch parts and retails for 85GBP. While some might thi...

Re: Roger's Little Ships

Hi Julie, Thankyou for your response, yes I must admit the Vosper is probably my preference. So far I've had a few replies for a PT Boat, but all different types which makes choosing just a tad tricky. May I ask, do you have a special connection with a particular Vosper MTB? Not sure is this forum c...

Roger's Little Ships

Hello from way 'downunder', With the help of a modelling friend we have created a 1/144th scale model of a Fairmile B class ML in resin. Fairmile B master 1.jpg We are seriously considering doing another model in the same scale, so I ask -- what should we do? A Vosper MTB OR A US Elco 80' PT Boat?

Hello Colin, John Lambert's (and Al Ross) book 'Allied Coastal Forces of WW2, vol 1' states that ML 544 was built in Looe, completed Oct 42 but no mention of being an RML. I'm certain more knowledgeable people (Brian Holmes for one) will provide more accurate info. Photo's would be a great help of c...

Hello All, especially Brian Holmes, At a model show in Melbourne, Australia recently a young chap asked me did I have any info on the above 'little ship' as his great uncle Michael Thorpe served on her. I know she was a Fairmile C class as I have John Lambert's book -- Allied Coastal Forces vol I. B...

There are plenty of copies (40+) of Peter Scott's book available via Bookfinder dot com, a relly good book search facility. The cheapest price being $AU17.13 postage included.

MTB Losses

Does a database exist that shows the GPS co-ordinates of each MTB sunk/lost during WW2? I am asking this on behalf of a friend in the US.

Cheers,
Roger.

Re: Looking for a patternmaker

Hi Ted,

Yes I know Les and have been getting his newsletters for quite some time. He is not really in a position, healthwise to do pattern-making as he is selling a lot of his kits. I may put a notice in 'Escort' if I don't receive any other reponses.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Looking for a patternmaker

Hello to all from 'way downunder', I’m looking for someone to help me make masters for 1/144th scale ‘little ships’, in particular initially a Fairmile B class ML (Motor Launch) patrol boat from WW2. This will (I’m quietly optimistic) lead to other craft such as MGBs, MTBs, PTs plus quite a number o...

‘Micky’ Burn MC (11 Dec 1912–3 Sep 2010) While not a navy man I feel his exploits and connection to the ‘little ships’ are well worth remembering. Michael Clive Burn, a Captain of the Kings Royal Rifle Regt and No. 2 Commando has sadly passed away in his north Wales home in his 98th year after suffe...
