Alfred Davies (Alf) ML 204 and MTB 738 and MTB 788

Postby AlfDaviesG-Daughter » Tue Oct 23, 2012 2:47 pm

Hi Everyone,

Im trying to research a little into my Grandads time in the Coastal forces during the war. My Grandad was Able Seaman Alf Davies and spent his time on Motor Launches and Motor Torpedo Boats. I have some information from his service record but I am trying to find out in particular more information about his time on the ML 204.

I know he served under Wilkie on the MTB 738 as part of the 64th Flotilla and I believe in July 1944 he was involved in driving back the enemy trawlers and R-Boats close to Le Harve where MTB 738 was damaged and they sadly lost there pilot Walmsley.

I also believe that MTB 738 might have been involved in part of operation Neptune and operation Infatuate but I know very little on this area.

ML 204 - Nov 1941-1943 (13th Flotilla)
MTB 738 - Dec 1943 - Feb 1945 ( 64th Flotilla under Lt. Commander Wilkie)
MTB 788 - Feb 1945 - May 1945

Any help with information would be smasing.
Many thanks
Sam
