After years of thinking about it I've finally applied for and received the service record of my uncle, Frank Burke. Frank was at HMS Raleigh (25 Nov 1942 onwards), followed by HMS Defiance and HMS Christopher. He spent a week on ML 136, and was then on MTB 46 from 17 June 1943 to 29 May 1944. Frank joined MTB 256 on 3 June 1944, leaving it due to injury on 1-2 July 1944. He spent the rest of the War at various hospitals.
I've done some research and have found photos of ML 136 and MTB 46, but would like to find some of MTB 256. I would like to find out more about these vessels, and in particular what operations or training MTB 46 was involved in from June 43 to end May 44, plus the operations MTB 256 took part in during June 44.
Any pointers for further research would be much appreciated.
