Postby Pioneer » Fri Aug 24, 2012 10:00 am

2012 is the 70th Anniversary of ‘Operation Fuller’ more commonly referred to as The Channel Dash. The operation was planned in the tunnels at Dover Castle and was to involve Coastal Forces units based at HMS Wasp Dover, and HMS Fervent Ramsgate: This was a hastily arranged Tri Service operation involving other units of the Royal Navy, the Army, and the Royal Air Force.

On Saturday 22nd September 2012 the First Sea Lord will unveil a memorial in Marine Parade Gardens to those from all 3 services that took part in ‘Operation Fuller’. The final plans for the day are still being prepared but the event will be attended by senior British Military personnel, representatives of the Federal German Navy, National and Local Dignitaries whilst to-date, the presence of a significant Royal Naval Vessel, the Central Band of the Royal Air Force, Standard Bearers, Veterans, Cadets, a flypast by the Swordfish of the RN Historic Flight are all confirmed.

This is a major public event and it is wished to make it hugely special for all those involved.
