HM MTB 90 ... adoption plaque.

Postby half12 » Fri Aug 19, 2016 2:12 pm

Hello,
I don't know if it is the good place for this post ...
Here is a picture of the plaque given to Elstree, Borehamwood Shenley & Ridge to commemorate the adoption of MTB 90 after the 1942 Warship Week ... "£28,500 Aim - £72,000 Result"

Thanks Herve

As there are potentially many of these I may create a thread specifically for Adoption Plaques later, at which point I'll move your post into it. I was previously chasing photos for two myself which I gave up on, but must take up again. One was for MTB 79, which used to be in the Working Mens Institute at Blaenavon, South Wales, but wasn't there any longer when I visited, and which may now be held by the Library.

I recall Google Newspapers has a lot of UK newspapers that were in existence during the war, digitised, and they quite often report on adoptions. It would be good to but together a definitive list at some time.

Google News

Britannia's Dragon also lists some.

Hello,

Good idea to create this thread ... there is lot to search about these adoptions and the warship weeks.

Best regards .. Herve
