I am trying to get some information about my Late father in law Terence Arthus Evans who served on the MTBs and was in Malta in 1945. I only have two photos and on the one he has written Bob - Mdina , Malta

Wonder if anyone can help.

Hello L B

Thank you for your enquiry and for the photographs.

I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the uniforms the two gentlemen are wearing, thinking at first they might be Petty Officers, though going by the cap badges, not, yet they don’t seem quite the same as RN Lieutenants, and their jackets are slightly strange. I wonder what others make of them. Do you have any more details about his having been with MTBs at all? I performed a thorough check within the Navy Lists both under Evans, as well as the principal bases on Malta: St Angelo, the general Royal Navy base, and Gregale, the Coastal Forces base, but could find no mention of him, if he was an RN or RNVR Officer. Any more details would be appreciated.

Possibly RNR but not sure of the Cap badge - looks like MN.

There were sailors from other navies with us in Malta, Empire, US, Free French, Polish etc.
