D Day Landings

Postby Julie » Tue Jun 15, 2010 7:01 pm

Have just read the latest Newsletter - very interesting but were the Dog boats ever classed as MASB's - I thought that it refered to an early type of smaller craft.
Looking forward to seeing the new web site - hurry up :bounce:

Hello Julie
The initial's MASB relate as you may know to Motor Anti Submarine Boat. I suppose it follows that if a "D" were stripped, and thereby lost its conventional role as an MTB, to one of now being engaged primarily in anti submarine work, and minesweeping by unconventional use of depth charges etc, it may be that the craft would need to be recognised as having changed its role. That is all guesswork of course - maybe someone can enlighten us more fully - good question Julie.
The web site is coming - please be patient for a little while longer :tu:
