The mostly Canadian Combined Forces operation at Dieppe has recently been described as "... a test of German defences for the later Operation Overlord ..." but here is a very sobering version of events as seen from a Canadian viewpoint.

Although British Coastal Forces craft are not mentioned in particular - which is a pity for us - (as this Operation clearly spelt out the design failure of the Denny Steam Gun Boat) the Royal Navy certainly is under some scrutiny.
