Remembrance Day provoked a little research on a fruit farming ex sailor who never talked of his CF experience!
We never pushed him on a period of his life.
MID for D day efforts, I managed to track him to HDML 1412 and it's role in Glimmer! Not bad for someone who pretended he was spending the war simply eating Mars bars on the sidelines!
I cannot find any crew lists for his time in Freetown, so am not sure of his boat, or even when he was there.
I believe his first ship may have been HMS Widgeon and I think N Sea convoy escort?
Anyone fill any gaps?
