Just to clarify a point.
Searching for officer appointments was largely by looking at the Navy List which includes commonwealth officers. However up until 1942 it tends to list appointments to bases rather than individual boats. In some cases it may say "for boats" or similar.
I have therefore not yet included such cases and I am working on other areas.
