Todays book of Remembrance includes the action of MGB647 when 3 of her crew were lost . I attaché a page from my memoires that reveals that action

My great uncle William Wood, affectionately known as Sonny to his family, was one of the seamen killed on the night on June 10 1944. He was my Dad’s uncle, and is named for him. We grew up calling him uncle Sonny, and he was mentioned frequently by my nana, Sonny’s elder sister. There was one photo of him at my nana’s house, but I haven’t seen him any any others. If anyone has any pics that he might be in, I would very much appreciate a share here. With thanks Linda Affleck

Hello Linda

Welcome to the forum. There are some images for the crew from this boat in the thread on MGB 647, but I believe these may date from the period after the death of your Great Uncle. I will try to ascertain the dates for the images and get back to you.

Hi Linda, Thank you for joining the Coastal Forces site, when I saw your message I thought I would be some help. Sadly I never knew your Uncle, he was killed just before I joined MGB 647. I can recall the attitude of the crew when I joined, was one of deep sadness at the loss of all those killed during that action. I very soon got a pictorial view of him from the rest of the crew, as he was known "We Georgie Wood" very happy shipmate.
As I recorded in my memoires it was the time, yes of deep distress and sadness, but together we had to carry on until the job was done, and I can recall and report that is what we done.
With Best Wishes
Peter
