MTB Mast standing rigging............

'Morning All,
Happy New Year to everyone. An MTB rigging question - would the Standing (fixed) rigging - the four stays, bracing the mast be secured at deck level, with bottle screws (turn buckles), to adjust the tension on the stays, and keep the mast properly aligned/vertical? If so, how big would they be?
