British Warships & Auxilliaries 1952

Postby Dave Mills » Tue Jan 03, 2012 7:10 pm

Maritime Books have just published their Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Edition of British Warships & Auxilliaries 1952 by Steve Bush.
To quote their website:

To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 we have produced a 1952 edition of our hugely successful annual publication British Warships and Auxiliaries. Full details of the fleet as it was in 1952, including the Active and Reserve Fleets, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Naval Aviation and the Dominion Navies. Also included are details of the future fleet - a build programme which included seven aircraft carriers, dozens of frigates and over 100 minesweepers.

This is a nice quality hard back publication of 376 pages mostly illustrated. It is written as if it were 1952 and even covers such craft as the Dark Class FPBs with a note stating they had been ordered by at that time (no mention of their launch dates that were later). Dark Scout correctly does not appear in the list as this all welded aluminium variant must have been ordered later that 1952) Well done for mainaining such chronological correctness.
