Any idea's what one of these does ??

Hi there,

Can anybody confirm what this is please?

I was assuming rotating radar but now not so sure.

According to John Lambert and Al Ross' book "Allied Coastal Forces at War Volume 1" , the photograph at the top of page 33, states that it is an 'RAF-type Aircraft Direction Finder'. There is a line drawing of RML 529 showing similar equipment on page 57 of the same volume.
