A COASTAL FORCES VETERANS ASSOCOCIATION Service to Dedicate Hornet Close Commemorative Plaque Sunday October 13th 1991 Gosport, Hampshire
WELCOME AND BIDDING PRAYER
We have come together this moming to dedicate this name plaque and to ask God's blessing on the homes in "Homet Close'. As we do so we give thanks to all whose vision made this estate such an attractive place in which to live, Gosport Borough Council, the architects, the planners, the builders.
The name "Homet will be remembered by many in the Royal Navy and in Gosport as the headquarters of Coastal Forces which last year celebrated the 50th anniversary of the commissioning of HMS Homet, the base from which many motor Gun Boats and motor Torpedo Boats sailed to take part in over one thousand close fought actions
We remember all from "Homet who gave their lives in defending our freedom and safeguarding our shores.
Let us remember too that there are many families and individuals in need of help - the homeless, the unhappy, the sick, also the hungry and refugees, and the unloved, especially children in Romanian and Albanian orphanages.
So with these thoughts in our hearts let us join together in saying the family prayer.
Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, In earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us: And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, The power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen
HYMN
All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens, Each little bird that sings, He made their glowing colours, He made their tiny wings. All things bright, etc.
The purple-headed mountain, The river running by, The sunset, and the morning That brightens up the sky: All things bright, etc.
The cold wind in the winter, The pleasant summer sun, The ripe fruits in the garden, He made them every one. All things bright, etc.
He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell, How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things well. All things bright, etc.

HYMN
Eternal Father, strong to save, Whose arm doth bind the restless wave, Who bidd`st the mighty ocean deep Its own appointed limits keep: O hear us when we cry to thee For those in peril on the sea
O Saviour, whose almighty word The wind and waves submissive heard, Who walkedst on the foaming deep And calm amid its rage did sleep: O hear us when we cry to thee For those in peril on the sea.
O Trinity of Love and Power, Our brethren shield in danger's hour; From rock and tempest, fire and foe, Protect them wheresoe re they go: And ever let there rise to thee Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
Will all young people join with me and say together:
Thanks to you, my Lord Jesus Christ for all the many blessings I enjoy, my home and family, my school and kind teachers, good food and clothes, love kindness and security. And I pray for all young people who are homeless and hungry, unhappy and unloved, and I ask dear Lord that I may come to love you more dearly, follow you more nearly and know you more clearly all my life.
Amen.
