East Lancashire Branch May 2008

Written by East Lancashire Branch | Posted on 20th July 2008

Introduction

The meeting held on May 18th 2008 was attended by only four stalwarts, so Secretary Len Mears decided that the meeting would not be the usual formal one. Apologies were received from Chairman Frank Hayworth, President Joe Smith and his wife Joyce, Syd Morton and Eric Smith. Len was pleased to receive Newsletters from North Midland and London Branchs and invited members to read them. Knowing the pleasure it was to receive news from other Branches, Len had sent details of this Branch in return. He said that in view of the successful 2008 reunion, Reg Ellis of Southern Branch hoped to arrange another meeting of veterans at the Bracklesham Bay Camp in 2009. Len had thoroughly enjoyed his visit this year and would recommend another visit should one be launched. The Secretary concluded by hoping more members would attend future meetings despite difficulties of wear and tear etc and wished members well.

Secretary’s Report

Len was pleased to record that attendance was double that of the previous one. Muriel Bostock, Ron Collinge, Eric Crowther and Joyce and Joe Smith had sent their apologies. He the read out appropriate portions of Reports received from North Midlands and London Branches and the first CFHT Newsletter. Applications for membership of the CFHT were handed out. As Treasurer, he then gave details of Branch finances.

Chairman’s Report

Frank also could not resist noting that attendance was double than that of the previous meeting, while he was on his Med cruise, visiting some old wartime haunts. Date of next meeting 21st September 2008
